CFFJAC Women's Commissioner d'Lisa Davies once again exemplified a successful women who is living her dream as a firefighter.

At the second annual Live Your Dream Conference, sponsored by the Soroptimist International of Riverside, professional women speakers and panelists like Davies were on hand to spotlight a range of occupations available to young women. This one-day event, held at California Baptist University in Riverside, gave 150 seventh and eighth grade girls a vision of what their future career could be like.

"I know that I wouldn't be where I am today without women mentors and I am grateful for the opportunity to help these girls on their career path," said Davies, who has volunteered for the event for the second year.

Davies was not only a speaker on the "Government and Public Services" panel, but she also served as a table leader which allowed her some real one-on-one time to interact and talk with attendees.

"This conference is not possible without this kind of support from women who have been there, done it and can give these young women a feel for what it's like in the real world," said Soroptimist International of Riverside Senior Director Jeanne Holmes. "I've had a number of girls say, 'I've never seen a woman firefighter before' so it's really important for us to have our female firefighters out in the community talking with young women."
