Laura Hernandez
Laura Hernandez has served as a paramedic/firefighter for the City of Tracy Fire Department since 2000, where she is a member of the Department's Honor Guard. She is a member of Tracy City Firefighters Local 3355.
In May 2007, CFFJAC Chair Dan Terry appointed Laura to the California Fire Fighter Joint Apprenticeship Committee's (CFFJAC) Commission to Recruit Women for the Fire Service. Laura has also been a member of the CFFJAC sub-JAC Committee since 2001.
Laura attended Chabot College Fire Academy in 1999 and worked as an EMT for AMR for over six years in Alameda County. She received her medic license in 2004. Laura continues to work toward her goal to be promoted to engineer within the Tracy Fire Department.
She has been a CPAT instructor since 2002, serving as a proctor at the Dublin and Livermore facilities since 2004.
Fluent in Spanish, Laura presents the "Learn Not to Burn" curriculum to Tracy School District's grammar schools and is often called upon to give presentations on fire safety at Tracy high schools and Delta Community College.
Laura hails from Modesto where she enjoys camping, biking, playing basketball and hanging out with her two sons.
