Monthly Salary Range: $2,570, $2,699, $2,876, $3,024
Education bonus pay after completion of probationary period:
5% of base salary for AA Degree
10% of base salary for BA/BS Degree

The Position:
Under supervision –

  •  Responds to fire alarms, rescue and other emergency calls
  •  Protects life and property endangered by fire or other hazards
  •  Participates in regular training, drill and study activities
  •  Assists in maintenance of stations and equipment
  •  Does related work as required

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent G.E.D. Certificate 
  • Minimum Age: 18 years at time of appointment 
  • Height: No restriction 
  • Weight: In correct proportion to height 
  • Hearing: Normal 
  • Vision: 20/20 or 20/30 in either eye, corrected 
  • Free from color blindness and tunnel vision 
  • Health: Normal standards set by medical exam 
  • License: Valid Driver's License

The Examination:

Applicants must satisfactorily pass the written, agility and oral exams before being placed on an Eligibility List. Actual appointment is contingent upon satisfactorily passing processes 4-7, listed below:

1. Written exam - 50%
2. Physical Agility - pass/fail
3. Oral interview - 50%
4. Medical exam - pass/fail
5. Psychological exam - pass/fail
6. Drug screening - pass/fail
7. Background investigation - pass/fail

Veteran's Credit:

Two points are applied to the final score of successful candidates. DD214 must be submitted at time of application. Reserve Duty, including active reserve training duty, does not meet eligibility for Veteran's Credit.
