Become an Apprentice
The California Fire Fighter Joint Apprenticeship Committee administers apprenticeship programs for professional firefighters employed by professional fire departments. An individual becomes an apprentice under the direction of the department he/she works for. Therefore, the first step in becoming an apprentice is to obtain employment with a fire department that participates in the CFFJAC program.

In order to assist individuals and departments in the hiring process, the CFFJAC maintains a database of individuals interested in pursuing a career in the fire service. Departments will, at times, mail job announcements directly to individuals in this database.
If you are interested in a fire service career, please complete and submit the CFFJAC Interest Form.
