Building a Better Fire Service for California
The core of the CFFJAC's mission for the past quarter century has been to build a broader, more qualified and more diverse fire service.
From its inception in 1982, the CFFJAC has focused on professionalizing recruitment efforts, breaking down barriers to qualified candidates and building vital bridges between firefighter candidates and the departments for whom they wish to work.
- CFFJAC offered the first statewide recruitment effort targeting women and minorities in the fire service.
- CFFJAC was the first statewide licensee of the Candidate Physical Ability Test. The CPAT remains the most experienced, trusted and widely-recognized CPAT provider in California, with more than 130 participating departments.
- CFFJAC continues to pioneer the creation of a broader, more professional and more diverse fire service, through its Commission to Recruit Women for the Fire Service.
In this section, you will find resources for both prospective firefighters and the departments looking to hire them.
