One is Good...but Two is Even Better!

CFFJAC to Open Second CPAT Testing Center in Northern CA

Just a year shy of its first anniversary of opening its doors in Southern California, the CFFJAC is proudly announcing its plans to open a second Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) Center in Northern California.

“When we first opened our CPAT testing center in the City of Orange, we had no idea of the enthusiasm and buzz it would create,” said CFFJAC Program Director Yvonne de la Peña. “Our Administrator Dan Terry has a knack when it comes to tapping in to the ‘demand and supply’ of the fire service. Opening an additional testing facility in Northern California will, in no doubt, be met with the same success and interest we’ve generated in Southern California.”

Because of its easy accessibility, and concentrated, highly-populated locale, the city of Dublin – centered in the East Bay Area – is the new official site of the CFFJAC’s second CPAT Testing Center. It’s sure to attract a wide range of diverse and enthusiastic potential firefighter candidates.

Since it was introduced in 1999, the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) and International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) endorsed CPAT program has set a standard for effectively measuring whether a prospective firefighter is up to the physical demands of the job. For almost as long, the CFFJAC has been bringing this battle-tested CPAT to California. For many departments, the CFFJAC CPAT “Card of Completion” is all they need to see to know they’re getting a physically capable firefighter candidate. Departments that accept the CPAT “Card of Completion” are spared the time and expense of conducting their own physical ability testing.

And… in effort to adhere to the ‘demand and supply’ theory, aspiring firefighters can now sign up to take the CPAT test online! The CFFJAC now offers online service to those who want to pin down the next available test date, sign up and reserve their spot.

Candidates can register for the CPAT test now at www.cpatonline.org.

While the CFFJAC is still in the working stages of setting up its new CPAT Testing Center in Dublin with the necessary equipment and staff, we anticipate having an orientation and test in the later part of May. We’ll keep you posted on the latest information on the new building as it develops, so stay tuned!
