- TCM Train-The-Trainer Class Scheduled
Sign up now for our Terrorism Consequence Management (TCM) Train-the-Trainer course being hosted by the Oakland Fire Department on August 30, 2010. This course is being provided at no cost to the individual or the department. The CFFJAC will provide the necessary instructor and student materials, provide lunch, and reimburse mileage. The CFFJAC will also help offset the backfill costs for Fire Departments that send students to a Train-the-Trainer course.

- And This Year’s Telly Awards Go To … FireStar Productions
FireStar Productions' contributions to the fire service were recognized this year by the Telly Awards. The video production company was honored with six Telly Awards including one for the California Fire Fighter Joint Apprenticeship Committee's Terrorism Consequence Management "Car Bomb Scenario" training video.

- '09-'10 ROP Fire Tech Class Concludes
Twenty more future firefighters are better prepared to meet the rigorous demands of the job, after completing the ROP fire tech class in Sacramento County. The year-long class wrapped up in May. The California Fire Fighter Joint Apprenticeship Committee and the Sacramento County Office of Education worked in cooperation to make this ROP fire tech class possible.

- East Bay Firefighters Conduct TCM Chemical Release Scenario
Seven firefighters from the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department and a Livermore police officer starred Wednesday in a training video meant to help their colleagues across the state learn what to do in the case of a chemical attack at an office building. FireStar Productions filmed the video Wednesday, which will be part of the CFFJAC's Terrorism Consequence Management (TCM) curriculum.

- Women's Commissioner Testifies to Support AB 2149
Assemblyman Warren Furutani (D - Long Beach) introduced AB 2149, encouraging a diverse and equitable fire service. AB 2149 strikes obsolete references to "fireman" in the County Employees' Retirement Law of 1937 (aka '37 Act) and instead, makes reference to "firefighter."

- CFFJAC's TCM Train-the Trainer Course Reaches Nearly 100 Departments
Nearly 100 fire departments in California will be better prepared for a terrorist threat, after sending their training officers and Haz Mat personnel to one of the CFFJAC's Terrorism Consequence Management (TCM) Train-the-Trainer courses. The CFFJAC has held classes in 11 locations throughout the state over the past year. The CFFJAC is co-sponsored by CPF.

- Women’s Commission Celebrates Fire Chief Rose Conroy’s Honor
Retired Davis fire chief Rose Conroy added the title of 8th Assembly District Woman of the Year to her impressive resume last month in a ceremony recognizing the outstanding achievements of women from the State Assembly's 80 districts. Assemblywoman Mariko Yamada (D-Davis) recognized Conroy for her drive and determination that led her to blaze a career trail in an occupation dominated by men.
