Nineteen people got the tools they need to manage their department's apprenticeship program after attending the CFFJAC's biannual Training Officers Workshop on Thursday, October 23rd.

When St. Francis High School in Sacramento held their Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Fair, a new participant set up a booth: The CFFJAC Commission to Recruit Women in the Fire Service.

Sponsored by the CFFJAC Commission to Recruit Women in the Fire Service, the Firefighter Recruitment Fair provides an up-close-and-personal look at the women and men who serve on the front lines to protect millions of Californians.

The CFFJAC’s groundbreaking system for testing the next generation of California firefighters is expanding again, with the announcement of the third CPAT Testing Center in Sacramento. 

Nowhere is safety on the front lines a more urgent concern than on a wildfire. Knowing where you are and what's around you can prevent death or injury even in the most catastrophic events. Culled from the forthcoming update of the CFFJAC's I-Zone program, the Wildland Firefighter Resource Guide offers information and links principles that will help prevent injuries while fighting wildfires.

Would-be California firefighters converged on the CPAT firefighter testing centers in Orange and Dublin for the second annual California Firefighter Recruitment Fairs. Sponsored by the CFFJAC’s Commission to Recruit Women for the Fire Service, the one-day job fairs gave candidates an “up close and personal” look at what it takes to be a first responder … a rewarding, but demanding profession. 

For 25 years, the California Fire Fighter Joint Apprenticeship Committee (CFFJAC) has remained steadfast in its mission to ensure that California’s first responders receive the highest quality of education and training. Sponsored by the Office of the State Fire Marshal and California Professional Firefighters, the mounting success of the CFFJAC and its firefighter training and education programs is due in large part to the collaborative effort of fire department management and local union labor representatives.

California's first responders will be better prepared to meet the challenges of domestic terrorism thanks to legislation signed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.  AB 587, authored by Assemblywoman Betty Karnette (D-Long Beach), earmarks $2.5 million for firefighter anti-terrorism training.
